LCIE: China, France & Hong Kong - As a company of Bureau Veritas (100% owned) since March 2001, LCIE offers its services to companies from all business sectors dealing with electricity and electronics, from manufacturers of consumer or industrial goods, distributors, exporters, to the end user. Created in 1882, LCIE benefits from a strong recognition, on a national and international level. 1881 - Electricity World Fair in Paris.
1882 - Decree authorizing the creation of a Laboratoire Central d'Electricité (LCE). First experiments in electrical metrology.
1888 - The laboratory begins its activity in Paris: metrology, tests, research, training.
1900 - Metrology: mercurial standards are calculated (basis of international resistor and cell standards)
1928 - Metrology: the Comité Consultatif d'Electricité is formed, chaired by LCE Director Paul Janet.
1942 - LCE becomes the Laboratoire Central des Industries Electriques (LCIE) by government decree.
1943 - The Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM) appoints LCIE to maintain national electrical units.
1948-1949 - LCIE moves to Fontenay-aux-Roses, south of Paris.
1950-1980 - Expansion of test activities.
1960-1970 - Development of research and metrology activities. LCIE begins tests in the nuclear field.
1963 - Metrology: a calibration centre is set up.
1969 - The Bureau National de Métrologie (BNM) is formed. LCIE becomes one of its five primary laboratories.
1971 - A law concerning in-service training is passed. LCIE offers professional training courses.
1980 - LCIE begins automated tests.
1996 - LCIE becomes a limited company. The Certification department of the Union Technique de l'Electricité (UTE) is transferred to LCIE.
