ADT’s WLAN Dynamic Frequency Selection testing system recognized by the FCC & NTIA
5 January 2007 - Taoyuan, Taiwan - In accordance with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requirements, the Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) testing and certification for Unlicensed National Information Infrastructure (U-NII) Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) devices operating in 5GHz band(Note 1) has been compulsory since July 20th, 2006. For suppliers of such WLAN equipment, all DFS testing must be carried out on a test system recognized and approved by the FCC and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA).
Bureau Veritas ADT’s self-developed DFS testing system has been recognized and approved by the FCC and NTIA; the software and major hardware being designed and developed by Bureau Veritas ADT’s specialist R&D and System Integration team. Working with Bureau Veritas ADT, suppliers of U-NII WLAN equipment to USA can ensure their equipment complies with the latest FCC requirements, meaning a compliant product and market access in the quickest possible time. It is expected that the European Union, Canada, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, etc…(Note 2) will also soon adopt this new DFS
All master and client devices operating in the U-NII band with DFS radar detection mechanism must be submitted to the FCC and will be pre-grant tested by the FCC. Performing pre-compliance DFS testing with Bureau Veritas ADT not only increases the possibility of passing the FCC testing, but also reduces the turnaround and market access time. Furthermore, Bureau Veritas ADT’s professional team can offer international approvals / market access advice and Curtis Straus, a FCC authorized Telecommunications Certification Body and Bureau Veritas company, can also accept successful Bureau Veritas ADT DFS testing reports and issue a certificate for U-NII client devices without radar detection function. Curtis Straus also has Nationally Recognized Test Laboratory (NRTL) status, providing a one stop service for quick and effective USA market access.
Throughout the product life cycle of U-NII products from product design to product shipment, Bureau Veritas ADT provides a total package offering to ease market access with services including product design consultancy, DFS testing and certification, RoHS, EMC, SAR and Safety testing, training and international approvals management.
