Kunshan Shangyi achieves the first QC080000 (RoHS HSPM) certificate in Yangtze Delta Area - China

Shanghai, China -- 3 July 2006 - On July 3, 2006, Bureau Veritas in China presented the first LCIE IECQ Hazardous Substance Process Management (HSPM) QC080000 certificate to Kunshan Shangyi, a factory in Yangtze Delta Area. It is a significant milestone for this area, which is one of the most dense electronic and electrical industry areas in the world.

Kunshan Shangyi is member of a group of companies with 11 factories in the world. It produces isolation materials mainly for the computer OEM’s. Before the certification, its main customer showed serious concern with their capability to handle RoHS and was worried about their system. After the audit more and more customers are coming to the factory and are putting Shangyi on their supplier list. The new orders will be coming from big OEMS.

According to Mr. Ting-wei Chuang, the general manager and group acting director of the board of the group, RoHS is a challenge for the electronic and electrical industry. However, it creates a possibility for re-shuffling this industry. Because a company that manages RoHS has a better chance to survive and have a more promising future than those who don’t manage RoHS. HSPM QC080000 certification is a perfect instrument to handle RoHS and the best symbol to display a factory’s capacity to constantly conform to RoHS requirements.
