Another requirement of the CE Directive is that the manufacturer must establish the Technical documentation that allows the conformity to the Directive to be checked and must keep it on Community territory at the disposal of the relevant national authorities for inspection for a period of 10years. Where neither the manufacturer nor his authorised representative is established within the Community this obligation becomes the responsibility of the person who places the equipment on the Community market. We can assist in either checking or preparing the Technical Files to ensure that they contain sufficient information to satisfy the Directive and any Notified or Regulatory Body to which they may have to be submitted.
Declaration of “Presumption of Conformity”
As well as reviewing your file, we can also offer a “Presumption of Conformity”. It is a requirement of the CE Directive (93/68/EEC) that the manufacturer or his authorised representative established within the community ensures and declares that the electrical equipment satisfies all the requirements of the CE Directive that apply to it. They must then affix a CE marking to the product and draw up a written Declaration of Conformity (DoC).It is quite common for imported products to have been fully tested in overseas laboratories. However, without realising the testing may not have been fully completed, the report may be out of date, not relevant to the product in question or not tested to the correct standard.
When signing your DoC, you need to be sure that all your documentation is in order, to protect against potential litigation in the future. Bureau Veritas can support your “due diligence” by carrying out an independent document review and on successful completion, we will issue you with a Declaration of “Presumption of Conformity”.
