Since 2004, Bureau Veritas ADT has been developing testing and certification techniques for WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) technology. By the beginning of 2007, Bureau Veritas ADT has completed the most all encompassing WiMAX testing laboratory in Asia and will soon be able to benefit WiMAX equipment vendors with a One-Stop Service covering global testing and certification.

As technology convergence continues apace and demand for high-speed, mobile data services and devices escalates; WiMAX, a technology based on IEEE 802.16, is what many believe will meet this demand. However, network operators and service providers will not adopt WiMAX without rigorous evidence. Achievements and Developments of WiMAX Testing and Certification within Bureau Veritas ADT

• Joined WiMAX Forum member (The 1st lab in Taiwan to become the member of WiMAX Forum) and Taiwan Broadband Wireless Communications Alliance in 2004.
• Capable to perform WiMAX regulatory testing in 2005 and assisted many clients to acquire certificates from countries.
• Obtained qualification of M-Taiwan WiMAX testing lab in July 2006. (Ahead of the other labs in Taiwan)
• Set up the WiMAX laboratory to comply with the testing requirements (RCT, PCT and IOT) of WiMAX Forum in Q1 2007.

M-Taiwan WiMAX Testing

• Bureau Veritas ADT is the only one M-Taiwan WiMAX testing laboratory quipped with test equipment (RCT, PCT and IOT) validated by WiMAX Forum that can also certify the Fixed M-Taiwan WiMAX product.
• The testing service for Mobile WiMAX products will be available from April 2007.

What is WiMAX?

WiMAX is a wireless industry coalition whose members organized to advance IEEE 802.16 standards for broadband wireless access (BWA) networks. WiMAX 802.16 technology is expected to enable multimedia applications with wireless connection and, with a range of up to 30 miles, enable networks to have a wireless last mile solution. According to the WiMAX forum, the group's aim is to promote and certify compatibility and interoperability of devices based on the 802.16 specification, and to develop such devices for the marketplace.
